Name of teaching material
Target | Young children in the preschool division |
---|---|
Disability category | mentally challenged |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | instruction of play pre-school education |
Specific purposes |
◎ To draw young children’s attention to a song and picture story show. The pages of the picture story are fastened together at the top and need to be turned to move on to the next page. There is also a photo book of the children’s faces, and its pages are turned in class to call a child’s name. ○ To have young children point at a picture or turn the page by themselves. |
Considerations for disability characteristics |
・ The background can be removed (i.e. it can be made black by placing a cloth behind the book) and the teaching material can be moved to a different location where it is much easier for young children to see, thus drawing their attention. ・ The height and angle of the book can be fixed, making it easy to handle. |
Expected effects and results |
・ The teaching material can help draw more attention to the intended object. ・ The fact that the young children can move things on the teaching material by themselves encourages them to take the initiative and increases their self-confidence and motivation. |
How to use | Create a triangular-prism-shaped bookstand with open ends out of wood, solid polystyrene board, or other material. Make sure that the bookstand sits stably on its support (see the photo above): you can use Velcro to fasten it to the support and make it removable at the same time. In addition, use Velcro to both fasten the bundled pages of the song and picture story to the bookstand and make them removable. In the case of a picture book, fit the book in the groove between the bookstand and an added horizontal bar; this way, a hardcover picture book will stand neatly by itself and the pages will not flip over. If the book is small, cover the support with a black felt cloth or nonwoven fabric to draw more attention to the book. |
