Disability category | mentally challenged autism |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | instruction for living skills pre-school education |
Specific purposes |
Children pay attention to the teacher who calls their name. When their name is called, they make eye contact and share high fives with the teacher or reply, “Here.” Children affix their name cards to the board. |
Considerations for disability characteristics |
Favorite children’s characters and different color frames are shown on the board to interest them, and they can choose their favorite character or color frame, and begin an independent activity. The teacher wears an apron with a pocket, making it easy to draw out the name cards. The teacher surveys the children, and draws out the cards of those who are paying attention. |
Expected effects and results |
The children can wait for their name to be called, and then raise their hand for a high five. They choose a favorite color frame (or character) for their name card, and affix the card to the board. |
How to use |
1. The teacher places name cards in the apron pocket. 2. The teacher takes out a child’s name card and calls his/her name while showing the card. 3. The child shares a high five with the teacher or replies, “Here.” 4. The teacher hands the card to the child and prompts him/her to affix it on the board. 5. Repeat steps 2-4. |
