Specific purposes To facilitate children and students:
・Understand the force of a rubber band by actually feeling it, and
・Adjust the power of pulling a rubber band via trial and error.
Considerations for disability characteristics ・The game of Eraser Boccia can be played even with little physical power.
・The "court" can be set at desk height. So, it is easy to play in wheelchairs.
・The court is small and is thus easy to see the overall game situation even for children and students having difficulty seeing a large space at once.
Expected effects and results ・By trial and error, children and students learn and realize how the force of a rubber band acts.
・It can improve the motor skills of fingers.
・By combining with actual Boccia, which is played on a much larger court, children and students can understand its rules and analyze strategies.
How to use ・Create a court using big tables, plywood boards, etc. and curing or masking tape. In the photos shown, two white meeting tables were placed side by side.
・Prepare 13 erasers. Attach stickers to distinguish the jack (white, 1), blue (6) and red (6). The number of the erasers is to be adjusted as required. In the photos, three red and three blue erasers were used. The erasers slide more smoothly with their sleeves retained than removed .
・The erasers are thrown using a rubber band fixed to an end of a ruler. (Place the eraser in the rubber band, pull it back and let it go.) How long the eraser flies (slides) can be adjusted by how much the rubber band is pulled. When the player finds it difficult to pull the rubber band, fix the ruler to the court surface with curing tape once the position and direction of the ruler are decided. Fixing the ruler makes it much easier to pull the rubber band.
・The game is played according to Boccia's rules. A piece of string helps judging who is the winner and the score.
