Specific purposes The mats help children to find the places where they should put their shoes by seeing and/or touching.
Considerations for disability characteristics ・ Mats of mutually different colors and textures were prepared so that children with different levels of eye sight can know where to put their shoes by seeing or/and touching. (In the photo shown above, the materials are, from left to right, one-sided corrugated cardboard, cork, shiny paper and bubble wrap.)
・ The mats were aligned so that it is easy to feel the differences in color and texture.
Expected effects and results ・ The mats can be easily placed anywhere (even outside shoe shelves) and enable children to find the places for their shoes even when they visit places other than their school.
・ Drawing or writing the marks or names of individual children makes them realize their marks and names (hiragana or braille).
・ Aligning the mats facilitate children find their places by touching and elicits their voluntary actions of putting their shoes on their mats.
・ Aligning the mats helps children be aware of the positional relationships with next mats and the order of numbers.
How to use ・ Prepare mats and spread them at a place where children are to put their shoes to encourage them do it by themselves.
