Specific purposes The tool helps children and students:
・ Learn the throwing motion (the position of the elbow, throwing angle, where to look at and how to move the body when releasing the throwing object)
Considerations for disability characteristics ・ Show how to use the tool by actually using it or showing a video so that children and students understand what they are to do.
・ Provide physical assistance so that they understand how to move.
・ For safety, choose rope of the color that stands our from the environment.
・ Use an object having a shape similar to the actual throwing object.
・ Attach a bell or something that gives sound to the target so that children and students can easily detect the result of their throwing.
・ Arouse students’ interest by attaching their favorite character to the target and/or putting things of their favorite color inside the throwing object.
・ Make the activity into a game, such as giving it a story of “Beat the enemy!”, in order to make it more enjoyable for the students.
・ Draw a hand print on the throwing object to help students know how to hold it.
Expected effects and results The tool helps children and students:
・ Master the throwing motion via activities similar to actual throwing
・ Get encouraged in practicing and challenging throwing because the ratio of hitting the target increases as they improve in the throwing motion (such as the elbow position, throwing angle, keeping the eyes on the target and how to move the body when releasing the object) and the results of improvement are easy to see
How to use Assistant: Fix the target and an end of the rope on the wall. Hold the other end of the rope at an angle that prevents the thrower’s elbow from lowering.
Thrower: Hold and throw the object on the rope.
