---|---|
Disability category | mentally challenged autism |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | Japanese |
Specific purposes | To enable children to create verbally the word corresponding to a picture by using letters |
Considerations for disability characteristics |
・When a child is learning a word for the first time, before he/she is shown the picture, the spelled-out word corresponding to the picture is shown as a hint before the child chooses the letters to verbalize the word. ・In the case of this particular child, among words the child was interested in, those composed of about two hiragana letters were used. |
Expected effects and results | The child began to be able to choose the letters and spell out the word without looking at the hint letters. |
How to use |
1. After looking at a picture, the child answers the name of the word corresponding to the picture in spoken language. ・The child answers accordingly—for example, “a comb” (ku shi) or “chopsticks’ (ha shi). 2. The child creates the word corresponding to the picture by using letters. ・The child chooses the appropriate letters from among several choices. |
