Target Children whose sitting positions are unstable, whose posture is poor when they are studying, or who get tired when they study for a long time. Children who often drop things off the desk (Elementary, junior high, and high school divisions)
Disability category physically challenged
Teaching units / Applicable scenes teaching and learning tools, auxiliary aids
Specific purposes ◎ Children can put their upper body in the cutout portion and rest their elbows on the top board. This can help them to maintain their posture.
○ The top board is wider than an ordinary school desk; therefore, objects can be spread out on the desk without needing to be stacked.
○ Because the top board comes with a raised rim, objects on the desk are less likely to fall off.
Considerations for disability characteristics It is difficult for children with physical disability to stand firmly or to hold their bodies still. Being able to rest their elbows on the desk makes it easier for them to maintain their posture when studying.
Expected effects and results The teaching material is expected to help children who have difficulty holding their bodies still or moving their upper limbs to maintain their posture, as well as to make it comfortable for them to study and prevent deformation and fatigue. It is also should prevent study materials from falling off the desk and help organize the desktop for easy use.
How to use The teaching material is to be used as a study desk in the classroom and other places where students are taught, or when students are eating lunch. The shape and size of the cutout can to be customized. If the cutout is too large, children will not be able to rest their elbows on the desk and the merit of the desk may be halved. A special order can be placed to have an attachment fixed to the cutout portion to prevent scoliosis from intensifying (see photos). The size of the top board and the size and type of containers that can be attached (see photos) can be changed to suit individual needs. The desk comes with a height-changing function and can accommodate growth in height. The desk has four legs, making it much more stable than those with two.
