---|---|
Disability category | mentally challenged autism |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | teaching and learning tools, auxiliary aids |
Specific purposes |
To enable the child to: • work on tasks proactively • maintain motivation and work on tasks in order |
Considerations for disability characteristics |
• Illustrations of characters, which interest children more than numbers, were used. Cards with the children’s favorite characters were prepared to make them happy even when they simply looked at them. • The order of the cards and the kinds of illustrations were changed to enable the children to enjoy looking at the cards. |
Expected effects and results |
• The child, who previously took some time to start doing a task, is now able to sit down at the study desk looking forward to the cards and can start the task promptly. • The child can now maintain motivation longer than before owing to the order of the task; after matching the illustrations of their favorite character to the illustrations on the container, the child moves on to the next task. |
How to use |
1. The child peels off the illustration card from the top of the learning schedule. 2. The child matches the card to the illustration attached to the container with the task in it and then attaches the card next to the illustration. 3. On completion of the task, the child tells the teacher and then moves on to the next task, which has a different illustration. |
