Name of teaching material
Target | Children and students with difficulties rasping while holding a wooden product or work because of upper limb palsy or underdeveloped coordination motion of both hands. (elementary, lower secondary, and upper secondary divisions) |
---|---|
Disability category | mentally challenged physically challenged |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | drawing and crafts, art life unit learning |
Specific purposes |
• To fix mainly cuboidal-shaped products or work for the purpose of rasping. • To enable younger and older children to polish a product or work without being distracted by trying to fix it while holding a rasp (a paper rasp or an electric sander) with the dominant hand or both hands. |
Considerations for disability characteristics | • To make it easy to attach and remove products and fix them securely, we created a difference in level and used a toggle clamp. In addition, by changing the direction of the fixation stand and changing the location where the product was attached, students could face the surface that they wanted to rasp. |
Expected effects and results | • Fixing a product and work made it easy to rasp, thus improving the quality of the finish. |
How to use |
(1) Place the product or work on the fixation stand with the surface to be finished facing up, and then fasten the toggle clamp to fix the product or work. The fixation strength can be adjusted to suit the thickness of the board. (2) Rasp the surface to be finished. Turn the fixation stand to change the direction. To change the surface to be finished, loosen the toggle clamp and remove the product or work. Then place the product or work back on the stand with the surface to be finished facing up, and fasten the clamp to fix again. |
