Name of teaching material
Target |
Children with visual impairment Elementary, Lower Secondary, and Upper Secondary Departments (6 to 17 year olds) |
---|---|
Disability category | visual impairment |
Teaching units / Applicable scenes | physical education |
Specific purposes |
To enable children to: --learn a technique for the javelic throw, a special throwing exercise --learn the proper release angle, which is difficult for children with visual impairment to learn |
Considerations for disability characteristics | Children with visual impairment, who have difficulty in imitation learning by observation and seeing the trajectory of thrown objects, learn by experience a javelic throw technique and proper release angle. |
Expected effects and results | Children can naturally learn the technique by repetitively practicing important steps in the javelic throw, such as the hold, elbow position, release angle, and release. |
How to use |
A child throws a tube through which a rope extends obliquely upward. The assistant holds the lower end of the rope, and pulls it to prevent the child’s elbow from lowering. The rope should be made of a material that has a relatively slippery surface and produces a sound through friction with the thrown object. The shape of the tube should be as close to the actual javelic shape as possible. |
Related teaching materials and information | The object to be thrown can be designed so that it can be used not only for the javelic throw but also for practicing soft ball throwing and other throwing activities. |
Useful for other students |
