Target deaf and hard of hearing children and students
Elementary, junior high, and high school divisions
Disability category deaf and hard of hearing
Teaching units / Applicable scenes physical education
Specific purposes ・ To visually notify a foul, the restart of a game, and other notifications in ball games such as soccer and basketball.
Considerations for disability characteristics ・ The teaching material is to be used with a whistle. It is much more effective when players wear vests of colors that match the colors of the flags (red or white).
Expected effects and results ・ Players will be able to know which team (i.e. their team or the opponent’s) the signal is intended for by just looking at the color of the flag.
・ Because it is much easier to tell which team the signal is intended for, less time is needed for players to notice the signal, and the game can be restarted smoothly.
How to use ・ The person in charge moves around holding the flags in both hands. When there is a foul, or when restarting the game, the person blows the whistle and raises a flag or indicates a direction at the same time. The use of the flags makes it much easier to visually understand the signal compared with when only a whistle is used.
