Specific purposes | This video content was produced for the general public to learn about the classroom environment at the Special Needs Education School for the Deaf, University of Tsukuba (School for the Deaf). |
Considerations for disability characteristics | Classrooms in the Special Needs Education School for the Deaf are well organized to provide the appropriate environment for students to communicate through speech reading by fully using their remaining abilities. The classroom environment is natural for the students, who have spent their school days there since they were very young; therefore, they are unlikely to be aware of such considerations (any differences from a normal school). In personalized life-skills training, the students use this teaching material to learn such considerations and to think about their social lives and communication after graduation. In addition, this teaching material can be used to help the students to explain their own disabilities to junior high school students visiting the school for exchange or to students visiting the school as part of their nursing experience. The teaching material is also effective for introducing the Special Needs Education School for the Deaf to the general public. |
